Conditions We Treat

At Semlow Chiropractic in Muskegon, MI, we provide comprehensive, effective chiropractic care without the use of medication or surgery. We offer traditional as well as alternative chiropractic care including Pro Adjuster technology, massage therapy, and a range of other treatments and techniques to provide pain relief and promote healing. Below are the most common conditions treated in our office:

Neck Pain

Neck pain can be mild, moderate, or severe. In the worst cases, it can be debilitating, depriving you of the ability to work or enjoy your favorite activities. We will work to alleviate and eliminate neck pain using minimally invasive techniques.

Migraines and Headaches

Migraines and headaches are painful conditions that are very common but can severely hinder your quality of life. The good news is we can help identify the cause of these conditions. In our office we perform chiropractic adjustments, offer posture advice, and posture strengthening exercises.  Our office carries a line of posture correcting items available for purchase.   We also offer therapeutic massage which can reduce the frequency and possibly eliminate your migraines and headaches.

Back Pain

Back pain can range in severity from mild to severe and can be caused by an injury, poor posture, or an underlying condition. We will apply a range of chiropractic techniques to find and treat the cause of your back pain.

Sciatica

Sciatic pain typically affects one side of the body. Sciatica can be a result of a herniated disc, a bone spur on the spine, or when a condition like spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal) compresses the nerve.  The result may be inflammation, pain, numbness, and sharp/shooting pain in the affected leg(s).  Chiropractic is effective in treating this condition by helping the body heal itself. We treat sciatica using a range of non-invasive chiropractic techniques as well as massage therapy.

Digestive Problems

Digestive problems can range in severity and can cause major discomfort. These problems may arise from neurologic or psychological issues as well as your diet. Chiropractic care and nutritional counseling have helped many people recover from digestive problems.

Pregnancy Discomfort

Chiropractic care is generally a safe and effective practice during pregnancy.  Not only can chiropractic care help manage pain in the back and hips, but it can also help establish pelvic balance and alignment. This provides your baby with as much space as possible throughout your pregnancy.  This could lead to easier labor, delivery, and recovery.

Pain in the Extremities

Adjusting extremities is the practice of manipulating the joint of an extremity to instill and help restore motion within the joint.  Chiropractic care can often help with stiffness and pain in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, knees, ankles, and feet.

Vertigo

Vertigo is the feeling of dizziness and loss of balance. This condition can be caused by a spinal misalignment that impinges on the nerves connected to the brain.  A chiropractic adjustment may often help this issue when an underlying condition is not the cause.

TMJ

Problems with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can be very painful.  Chiropractic may help with TMJ by alleviating dysfunction in the cervical spine.  This helps to reduce the pressure on various nerves possibly reducing the pain associated with TMJ.
