Prior to your first appointment, we request that you complete our on-line patient forms located in the "New Patient Center" tab, under online forms. If the forms were already e-mailed to you, please be sure to have them completely filled out before the start of your appointment. Upon entering our office, our staff will welcome you and assist you with everything needed to begin your appointment.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Scott Semlow to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Scott Semlow to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, with your consent, Dr. Scott Semlow will perform a complete chiropractic exam, this includes orthopedic and neurological tests, as well as a postural analysis and foot scan.
Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays. X-rays are an important tool for Dr. Semlow as they help to determine if there are any serious spinal conditions which would prevent him from treating you.
Report of Findings
After the exam and x-rays are analyzed, Dr. Scott Semlow will give you a detailed report of all findings and actually show you your x-rays and answer any questions you may have regarding your care including:
1. How can you help me?
2. How often do I need to come in?
3. What will my treatment cost?
Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays up close. In some cases, you may even be able to identify your misalignments and degeneration yourself. At this time, he will also discuss his recommended care plan according to your healthcare goals.
At the conclusion of your initial appointment, you will receive your first spinal manipulation. Treatment is interactive, and you are welcome to ask any questions about different styles of treatment. Dr. Semlow will discuss when you should return for your next appointment and he may recommend additional physical modalities and/or massage therapy.
Prior to leaving, Dr. Semlow will suggest things to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when first coming to our office, this may include ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid and at home exercises and stretches. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve spinal alignment, encourage a healthy diet and exercise plan and to maintain a positive mental state.
